ということをお伝えしたく, 記事を一本書きました。

主語たちと動詞がどれか瞬時に判断する
中学か高校で<節・せつ>という言葉を習うと思いますが, 文法用語がたくさん並ぶとそれだけでつまらなくなってしまいますよね。確か主語たちと形容詞たちと副詞たちがいたんでしたっけ。英文をたくさん読んではいますが, 「主語」と「動詞」以外は正直なところ全く気にしたことがありません。主語と動詞は大切ですが, それ以外どうでもいいので<節>という言葉はあえてやめておきます。
文型もいくつかあるんでしたっけ。SV, SVC, SVO, SVOO, SVOC・・・? うーむ。最初に学ぶ人たちには大切かもしれませんが, 一度英語に慣れれば文型もどうでも良いです。どんなときにでも最も大切なのは主語と動詞！！物語でも論説でも, 新聞記事でも契約書でも, 主語と動詞だけは常に気にしなければいけません。
追い読み・ディクテーション
うまい英語を聞きながら, 同時に話すことがとても練習になります。低速の英語を講演を真似することからはじめてください。バラク・オバマ氏の講演スタイル(話すスピード) が真似をするのに役立ちます。いろんな有権者の票を集めるため, ほとんどの政治家は誰もがわかるスピードで話をします。英語を第二言語とする人が多い場所でスピーチをする際にも, そのスピードで話すことを心がけることが肝要です。
音読の練習
大統領のスピードで原稿を読んでみましょう。2008年の勝利宣言時のスピーチで, クライマックスにあたる部分です。非常にゆっくりなのでわかりやすいと思います。
主語と思えるもの（文法的には厳密にいうと違いますが）は太字
動詞と思えるものは斜体
息継ぎをしているところにスラッシュ / をつけました。
息継ぎをする場所がどういうところかに注意してみてください。
This election had many firsts / and many stories that will be told for generations, / but one that's on my mind tonight's about a woman / who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She's a lot like the millions of others / who stood in line / to make their voice heard in this election / except for one thing: Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.
She was born just a generation past slavery; / a time when there were no cars on the road / or planes in the sky; / when someone like her couldn't vote for two reasons / -- because she was a woman / and because of the color of her skin.

息継ぎをする場所
息継ぎをする場所はまとめるとこんなところでしょうか。
・コンマ , や セミコロン ; の後 / 文の切れ目 / ダッシュ ( -- ) の後
・and の前後
・that の手前 (たくさんの意味を引き連れていることが多い)
・前置詞の手前: 全ての前置詞ではなく, たくさんの意味を引き連れていそうな前置詞の前
「意味を引き連れていそうな」言葉の手前で息継ぎをすることは, 実際に文章を読む際にも役に立ちます。意味の切れ目を探ることは高速読解には欠かせないからです。この考え方は契約書を読むようなときであっても, 大いに役立ちます。
高速読解とどういう関係?
息継ぎをする場所が無意識的にわかると, 意味の切れ目が目で追えるようになります。これができるようになれば, ブロックごとに「意味が入ってくる」感覚になるのでひとつひとつ日本語訳しながら読むことがなくなります。200ページの本は1週間分のスキマ時間 + お風呂に浸かる時間で音読することが可能です。日本語と主語述語が逆だから・・「あとから訳」なんかをしながら読むと, 読むスピードは一向に早くなりません。
あまり音読をしすぎると, 意味は全部入ってきますが, 僕のように口を動かさないと読めなくなる・・・これだけが音読の弊害ですが, ある程度の速さには到達できて最低限をクリアできます。大学受験や日常の新聞記事, 「普通の」英語を使う仕事などはこの読解スピードでOKです。
留学先の大学や大学院で, 予習で読むべき資料を大量に積まれるケースではもっと速読しないといけないのかもしれません。意味のなさそうな段落や繰り返し表現されているような具体例はすっ飛ばす能力はもちろん必要となるのでしょう。「200ページの本は1日-2日で読みきる」日本人が日本語でそれができるということは, 英語ネイティブは英語でそれができるということです。トレーニング次第で英語でもそれができるようになると信じ, 練習を積み重ねて突き進むしかありません。

さて。
長文読解は, 試験の世界では何かの小説や論説であることが多いですが, ビジネスの世界（サラリーマンの世界）では契約書が主役です。例えば会社間(B2B)の契約を読み間違えれば, 大きな権利喪失につながったり大金を失ったりします。
次は契約書を例に使って音読してみましょう。会社間契約を探してくることは不可能ですので, 会社対顧客(B2C) の契約を使います！
